Solomon’s name is derived from the Hebrew word shalom and means "peace," "complete," or "prosperous."
The name given by God to Solomon is Jedidiah, meaning "friend of God" or "beloved of Yahweh." (Solomon’s case is one of the few in the Bible where the name given by God is not recorded as staying with the character).
Solomon was King David’s thirteenth son. His mother was Bathsheba.
